Genjutsu multiple characters: the two-person recast guide

Two people, one source clip, one clean recast. The whole job is separating the reference sets, the blocking and the prompt order before you spend a render.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can Genjutsu recast two characters at once?

Yes, when both people are clearly visible in the same clip. The reliable approach is one reference set per character, a single camera angle and a prompt that fixes their left-right order.

How many reference images should each character have?

Start with three: a full-body shot, a face close-up and an outfit detail. Five or six helps when the character has a complex costume. The project limit is 40 images in total.

Why do the faces swap between characters?

The model has lost the link between a body and its reference set. Add an explicit left/right instruction, keep the same reference order and remove group photos or near-duplicate outfits from the sets.

Can I recast more than two people?

It is possible with a wide, well-separated shot, but reliability falls as the cast grows. For three or more people, keep the action simple and give each person a distinct silhouette and reference set.

What if the characters touch or cross paths?

That is the hardest case. Trim the clip to the section before or after the overlap, or split it into two shorter recasts and join them in your editor.

Can I change only one character and keep the other?

Yes. Use an Object Swap pass or a prompt that names one performer and explicitly protects the other. Run a test on the single change before attempting the full recast.

How do I keep the same cast across multiple videos?

Reuse the exact same reference set and keep the same character order. Changing the references, the order or the lighting is what makes a cast look different from shot to shot.

Is the first render free?

Yes - sign in with Google and the first try is free. After that, each render uses the credits in your plan.
