Object swap: change one thing, keep the whole shot

Replace a product, prop, outfit or sign with your own reference - and keep the actor, the motion, the lighting and the rest of the original frame.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can object swap replace a person?

It can change wardrobe or small details on a person, but replacing who performs belongs to motion transfer - rebuilding the whole performance from references is its job. The motion transfer guide covers that workflow.

Does the original lighting survive the swap?

Yes. Object swap keeps the original frame and only regenerates the object, so the shadows, reflections and grade around it carry over.

Can I swap more than one object in a run?

One change per run is the reliable shape. When several elements need to change, that is really a partial restage - run it as motion transfer instead.

What reference images does an object need?

Two to four clean angles of the replacement. If the label or logo matters, include one legible shot so the model can keep it consistent.

Why does my swap wobble in some frames?

Overlapping hands, fast motion and reflective surfaces are the usual causes. Trim to the cleanest window, steady the camera, and give the object more to anchor on.

Is object swap free to try?

You can run your first swaps on the free tier after signing in with Google. The Genjutsu free guide has the exact limits and the cheapest path.
