FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many reference images does Genjutsu accept?

Up to 40 per project. Most single-character recasts need three to six; the extra slots are for wardrobe, products, locations or a second character.

What is the best reference image for a character?

A sharp, evenly lit full-body shot plus a face close-up and one outfit detail. Use the same person, hairstyle and clothing across the set.

Can I use a group photo as a reference?

It is a poor choice for a single character because the model may average several faces. Crop one person out or use a solo photo instead.

Do reference images need to match the source clip pose?

They should show the character or object clearly, not force a pose. Neutral references give the source motion more room to come through.

Why does my product look slightly different?

Mixed white balance, missing angles or a busy background are the usual causes. Use consistent lighting, show more than one side and put one clear label or texture close-up in the set.

Can I use anime screenshots as references?

Only if you have the rights to them. For commercial work, use an original character design or licensed material. The copyright guide explains the trade-off.

Should I reuse the same references across videos?

Yes, for a consistent series. Keep one master set and the same upload order so the character or product stays recognisable from shot to shot.

Is the first render free?

Yes - sign in with Google and the first try is free. After that, each render uses the credits included in your plan.
